Ingredients
- 500g strong white bread flour
- 7g dried yeast
- 300ml warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mix the water and yeast in a bowl, let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Add a little oil to a bowl, place the dough in it and cover with cling film.
- Let the dough rest for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (200°C fan).
- Punch down the dough and transfer to a loaf tin
- Add a little flour to the top of the dough and cut a shallow slash down the middle.
- Cook for 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
Tips
- Leave the loaf to cool completely before slicing for the best texture
- You can use plain flour if you don't have strong white bread flour
- When kneading, pull and fold the dough to develop gluten
- Add a little flour dusting to the bttom of the loaf tin to prevent sticking
